It is January. We are in the final stages of Winter. The Earth is sleeping. Beneath the surface, powers of renewal and purification transform that what has passed into that what has yet to come.
In these guided meditation sessions, inspired by the brilliant work of Jaap Voigt, it is my aim to help you connect more deeply to nature and its seasons. Fundamental to understand is that we are a part of nature and nature is a part of us. Therefore, the processes that are happening in nature are happening in you as well. By learning to observe your natural environment closely, you will better understand yourself. We too move with the seasons every year. These meditations will help you to understand what is happening in nature, and therefore in you.
These are 10 to 15 minute meditations, carefully crafted with love. Find a quiet spot and go on a journey into nature. Headphones are recommended. Welcome to the guided nature meditation of January. In these sessions, it is my aim to help you connect more deeply to nature and its seasons. We are a part of nature and nature is part of us. The processes that are happening in nature, are happening in you as well. And by learning to observe your natural environment closely, you will better understand yourself. We move with the seasons every year.
Today, I will guide you through a short meditation that will help you to understand what is happening in nature and therefore in you in this month of January.
Take a moment of silence and find a comfortable seat. Close your eyes. Do make sure your spine is straight and then relax your muscles. Relax your belly, your chest, your shoulders and the muscles in your face. Surrender. Then focus your attention on your breath. Breathe into the areas that feel tense. The breath can be used to surrender to whatever is happening inside of you. Direct loving awareness to the area of your heart, feeling into the depths of your being. Throughout this meditation, remember to stay present, remember to stay silent and remember to listen. Know that you can always return back to the breath when you lose your focus.
It is January. We are in the final stages of Winter. The Earth is sleeping. Beneath the surface, powers of renewal and purification transform that what has passed into that what has yet to come. We are in a time where nature is collecting energy, so that life can return by itself. New life, shrouded in death. Something, born out of nothing. This is the paradox of Winter.
In January, the earliest, rudimentary beginnings of new life are returning. The spark of life has been ignited, but it has no form yet. Therefore, we cannot see what lies ahead, but perhaps you can already feel the rush of new life beating in your heart.
So take a deep breath in, and take a deep breath out. Pause. Think of absolutely nothing for just one moment. This is where we are in the year. We are in a resting state. We are in a time where we are closest to our essence, which reveals itself only when you let go of everything that you know. When you plunge in the deep and dare to die before you die.
Accept that you are not yet capable to give shape to something new. You are still gathering your strength for a new cycle of growth. Do not rush yourself, or you will most likely drain yourself quite quickly. Instead, become acquainted with your essence, directing your loving awareness to the heart in all circumstances. Stay calm and steady, undisturbed by the ripples of daily life and trust that beneath the surface your work for this year is developing itself autonomously. There is simply no need to push.
From the depths of your own being, you are being renewed. New beginnings are made deep within. Can you feel this? In this month, our patience is tested as we are waiting for what is yet to come. If you take the time to practice loving awareness, you will know what is right for you in the moment. It is a time to gently get to know the new version of you. To discover yourself again in a playful manner and above all allow to happen whatever wants to happen.
In your work, focus on the details that you know, as the new structures in your life are not yet visible. If they arise, resist tempting ideas that seem to offer solutions to your problems. We are not yet in a decisive time to set a new course. Again, allow it to unfold. The only time to act swiftly in this time is when something bad or destructive arises in your life yourself or in yourself. Try to keep it under control, because even the smallest disturbances can grow out to be large problems later in the year.
Above all, enjoy this silent time and seek the comfort of friends who can help you to stay in loving awareness when you feel impatient. Trust in the autonomous process of life within you. You are doing well.
And as we are approaching the end of this session, I would like to invite you to ask yourself: what wants to be born through me? Again, what wants to be born through me? Stay connected. Allow the answer to come from deep within. Allow the words to come to you by simply observing.
