It is October. We are in the midst of one of the greatest spectacles of the year. As we expect nature to return back to its naked essence. We too, in our own lives, are expecting the death of the old.
In these guided meditation sessions, inspired by the brilliant work of Jaap Voigt, it is my aim to help you connect more deeply to nature and its seasons. Fundamental to understand is that we are a part of nature and nature is a part of us. Therefore, the processes that are happening in nature are happening in you as well. By learning to observe your natural environment closely, you will better understand yourself. We too move with the seasons every year. These meditations will help you to understand what is happening in nature, and therefore in you.
These are 10 to 15 minute meditations, carefully crafted with love. Find a quiet spot and go on a journey into nature. Headphones are recommended. Welcome to the guided nature meditation of October. In these sessions, it is my aim to help you connect more deeply to nature and its seasons. We are a part of nature and nature is a part of us. Therefore, the processes that are happening in nature, are happening in you as well. By learning to observe your natural environment, you will better understand yourself. We move with the seasons every year.
Today, I will guide you through a short meditation that will help you understand what is happening in nature and therefore in you in this month of October.
Take a moment of silence for yourself and find a comfortable seat. Then close your eyes. Make sure your spine is straight. Strong, but relaxed. Relax your belly, your chest, the area of your heart. Then focus your attention on the breath. Breathe into the areas in your body that feel tense. You can use the breath to surrender to what is happening inside of you. With every inhalation, you connect with the sky. With every exhalation, you ground yourself to the Earth.
Ask yourself: what is happening in this moment? Observe. Do not get carried away by thoughts, ideas or concepts. Stay present, concentrating on the sensation in the body and return back to the breath when you lose your focus.
It is October. We are in the midst of one of the greatest spectacles of the year. As the leaves are turning we can witness one of the greatest spectacles of the year; from dark reds to vibrant greens and everything in between. Nature is preparing itself for Winter, soon shedding what it no longer needs.
As we expect nature to return back to its naked essence. We too, in our own lives, are expecting the death of the old. Our essence, which will reveal itself in Winter, is still hidden from us. We are expecting change in ourselves just as we expect the leaves to fall. From the deepest level of your being, patiently await this change to occur by itself. Live carefully and gently, as if you are pregnant with something new, nurturing it and allowing it to grow inside of you. Continue steadily with what you have been doing. This is not the right time to express yourself, so retain your opinions and retreat back into yourself.
Everything is moving in nature and in your life and work you might feel surges of excitement and enthusiasm as well. In this time of the year, the way you act is naturally connected your what inspires you, so it is easy to get carried away by your own excitement. However, as we are preparing for Winter, detail, routine and unfinished business require a lot of your attention, which can make you feel frustrated and impatient. Resist the urge to rush yourself. Instead, work on the structures in your life that give you a solid footing. Have patience, take the time you need and stay away from frustration that seemingly irrelevant things require your attention. Actively focus your attention on what supports you and try to ignore everything that works against you. Do not doubt yourself and stay genuine.
We are in a time where we get to witness the changes of nature and the changes in ourselves. Take some distance and observe yourself in silence. Be mindful to not judge yourself, as this will create unnecessary confusion in your life. Simply evaluate what the last cycle of nature has brought you and what is false or no longer valid will reveal itself by itself. Your qualities and capacities will be known to you and solutions to problems will be presented to you.
Taking the time to observe yourself in silence, you will come to insights on how to reorganize or restructure your life. Hone your internal and external structures and ask yourself where more discipline is needed in your life. If you are conscious and aligned with your calling in this life and accept that your life will come to an end, this discipline will come natural to you in this final month of the Fall.
As we are approaching the end of this session, ask yourself: what structures in my life allow me to breathe freely and continue to develop myself? Stay connected and allow the answer to come from deep within. Observe and allow the words to come to you.
