Winding down in the wind

Spring is an exciting time. Everything is growing fast. Catch a breath, while you can, and listen to the the wind. What does she speak of?

Grey skies and a soft spring breeze. The world is quiet. I listen to the swaying willows in the wind. Today is Easter Monday in The Netherlands. A time to wind down, perform household tasks and enjoy the company of family or friends. I feel relief now the weather has turned. The wind carries the message of rest, inviting me to temporarily release the juvenile excitement that the Spring Sun stirred up in me.

I go out at dawn and walk to the river. The wind is bitterly cold, but there is so much to see. A kestrel hovering above the fields, searching for prey. Two storks dancing with each other, soaring over the lake. A raven sitting quietly on top of the old willow. No one is with me, as far as my eyes can see. I thank the weather, feeling blessed to spend some alone time with nature on this chilly Monday morning.

Spring is an exciting time. Everything is growing fast. So are we. While I write this, the Sun is breaking through the clouds. The world is waking up. Catch a breath, while you can. Turn within and listen to the the wind. What does she speak of?
